Just A Few Taps
The Home Depot Mobile App
More Ways To Get More Done

As the physical and digital worlds continued to merge (phy-gital), The Home Depot made strategic investments to meet the growing expectations of customers.
We were committed to developing an interconnected retail experience that helped our customers shop whenever, wherever and however they want - a key pillar of the One Home Depot strategy and mobile first objective.
During my leadership as Director of Online User Experience, not only did we exceed these expectations, but we also received the top overall score for best-in-class functionality and usability from Forrester for our work on the mobile app.

By The Numbers
Greatest Hits
We embraced cutting-edge technologies to make shopping as easy as possible. From mapping technology, to artificial intelligence to Apple Business Chat to augmented reality, here’s a spotlight on a few of the "Oscar Goes To" features and experiences that delivered exponential business value to the company.
Image Search
Simply snap a photo of that part you need to replace and Image Search will help you identify it. Yes, it's that simple.

Augmented Reality
The 3D Augmented Reality feature allows you to "see" an item in your space. We successfully scaled this to over 40K SKUs and saw a dramatic increase in conversion when a user engaged with the feature.

Barcode Scanner
The barcode scanner easily converts a UPC or QR code into product information, details, ratings and reviews.

Curbside Pickup
COVID forced our hand to provide multiple fulfillment options, including curbside pickup. "Great didn't get in the way of good", and we launched our pilot to 7 stores, then 100 and ultimately scaled to all stores, learning and iterating the entire way.

Apple WWDC Keynotes
Our work was featured not once, but twice over two years at Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). Our first appearance was for leading from the front in Augmented Reality where we partnered with Apple on its version of AR Kit.

Apple Business Chat
The Home Depot was one of the first retailers to use the beta version of Apple Business Chat which enables users to communicate directly with businesses through a native iPhone and iPad function, with no need to download a separate application or set up an additional account.
This work was featured in Apple's WWDC in 2018.

How It Works

That's A 'Wrapp'
I'm extremely proud of the points we put on the board and the recognition we received for this important part of The Home Depot's business. Mobile is the bridge between interconnected retail. As a multichannel retailer, The Home Depot understands the impact of its mobile presence on its physical stores.
